Employment Program
Adult
employment – The Employment & Workforce Development
department provides an array of employment opportunities
to individuals seeking employment, career changes, job
readiness and technical skills training, as well as employers
who wish to recruit qualified employees to fill vacancies
within the work place.
The employment department screened
875 individuals and placed 575 clients in career oriented
positions during the 2005 year in the Richmond area.
The
Urban League has a satellite office in Petersburg, Virginia
serving District 19, which offers the same services and
have placed 68, exceeding their goal of 50, homeless individuals
in jobs, as well as finding permanent housing during the
2005 year.

This program is a partnership between Kraft Foods and the Urban League
of Greater Richmond to educate underserved families about healthy lifestyles,
good nutrition, proper exercise, obesity, diabetes, cancer, etc.

Careers
This is a partnership with MCV/VCU Hospital Quality Care Unit program.
This program provides 50 middle to high school kids to become Summer
interns in the hospital health care system.

Center
The Urban League of Greater Richmond has a full computer center that
has ten desk top computers. The lab is available for business
and to provide training to individuals to do job searches, resumes,
etc.
